My name is Marc Levine. I am a 21 year old student from Houston, TX. I plan to major with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. I began painting in the summer of 2005 and again in the summer of 2007. The above photo was taken at my most recent art exhibit at Rice University in Houston, TX.

My art is influenced in part by the music and writings of Jackson Browne's "Lives in the Balance" album (1986) [link] , the music of Irish singer-songwriter Ro Tierney [link] , and the works of Australian journalist/documentary filmmaker John Pilger [link] .

Recently I have also discovered Bruce Cockburn's "If I Had A Rocket Launcher:" [link] , the subject matter of which pertains to U.S. foreign policy in Latin America (Guatemala) during the 1980s.

My username derives from "On the Turning Away" by Pink Floyd. The best version can be found on the Delicate Sound of Thunder double-disc set -- a live album released in 1988. You can watch the full performance of it here: [link] .

I usually let my works do most of the talking, although I wish I had no reason to create this kind of art. Lately I haven't had as much time to create as I'd like, but hopefully I can concentrate on it more when summer arrives. My works are for informative purposes only and are not for sale.
